Looking for an affordable and challenging sport for your child? We have a variety of programs including Little Rocks, Recreational Youth and Competitive Youth curling!
The schedule is Sunday afternoons from 3pm to 4pm, commencing on October 21, 2018 until March 3, 2019. The last session before the Christmas break will take place on December 9thand will resume in the New Year on January 6, 2019. The final, year-end date will be Sunday March 3rd, 2019.
To participate on the ice, your child will require the following items:
- Clean shoes (please, no soiled outdoor footwear)
- Warm and flexible clothing (layers work best)
- Helmet (hockey, ski, bicycle, etc. are acceptable)
For every child’s safety, helmets are mandatory and must be worn at all times while on or near the ice surface.
*Note: curling brooms/brushes are available for use at the club
As always, our focus is to have fun while learning the sport of curling, remembering that good sportsmanship and courtesy are important parts of the game. The objective of the program is to promote skill, game strategy and social development over the course of the season. Starting with the basics, various drill application will eventually lead to game play and a better understanding of the sport in general.
Sunday Recreational Youth League
The next level after Little Rocks is our Sunday Recreational Youth League that typically includes young people between the ages of 10 and 17. More structured, game oriented sessions take place between 4 & 6pm on Sunday afternoons.
Common to this group is the opportunity for exhibition games against youth from other local clubs. We do our best to schedule these during our regular meeting times. There may also be opportunities throughout the season for some of our youth to participate in local area bonspiels. Parents will be informed and consulted regarding their child’s participation in advance of these events.
Coldwater has two U18 Competitve teams curling out of our club this season, Team Niepage (Men's) and Team Bertolo (Women's). These teams get an early start to their seasons competing in numerous OJCT & OCA associated spiels and challenges beginning in September. All of our competitive teams have done Coldwater proud over the past several years. Their many accomplishments have been the result of endless hours of support from parents, coaches and club members.
